Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Soot is not always visible

After fires, smoke and soot also affect your home and is sometimes the hardest to remediate. Smoke permeates any soft goods like fabric covered furniture, drapes, clothing and carpet or furniture made of particle board which will require cleaning or replacing the item to get rid of the smell from your home. Soot is fine particles from the fire that float in the air and stick to everything in your home and cause the fire smell to linger until its cleaned. Just like smoke after it's gone, it's invisible to most people. We use special sponges to test the surfaces for soot, so we know what is affected and needs to be cleaned. When the smoke and soot is not that severe, the use of these special sponges to clean the affected surfaces is enough to remediate the smell.
